This article describes how you can insert text or subtitles from another document into the current story. Any existing subtitles will be unchanged.
Use the following procedure to insert text or subtitles from the source document into the currently open story.
The source document can be in any of the supported import formats as well as the Wincaps Q4 Offline (W32) file format.
Place the cursor at the point in the current story where you want the subtitles from the source file to be inserted. The new subtitles will be inserted after this subtitle. If you want to append the subtitles in the source file to the current story, place the cursor in the last subtitle
Select Story : Insert : Other from the main menu to insert a third-party file, or Story : Insert : W32 to insert a Wincaps Q4 Offline file
Choose the source file to insert
A confirmation dialog will be displayed
Click OK to continue. The contents of the source file will be inserted into the current story
Warnings may be displayed if Wincaps Q4 detects that results may not be sensible
The current story now contains the results of the merge operation
It may be helpful to use the Story : Split command to break inserted text into sensible subtitles according to the configured text splitting rules.
The insert process obeys the following rules:
The subtitles/text will be inserted from the source file along with timecodes, if present
Subtitle-level style and word-level style settings in the source file will be preserved where possible. This includes position, justification and colours
Inserted subtitles will be automatically word-wrapped if necessary
If a file in a different language is inserted, some of the inserted characters may be invalid in the target language. In this case, an appropriate warning will be displayed
If the source file contains unformatted (raw) text, Q4 will split the text into subtitles using the settings defined in Configure Import for the active customer.
Note that this operation cannot be undone
