Duluth, GA, USA – June 25, 2018: Leading integrated playout systems specialist, BroadStream Solutions, is pleased to announce that PBS station WVIA in Pittston, PA went live recently with BroadStream’s OASYS Integrated Playout as their broadcast automation solution.
WVIA operates 3 channels including PBS, Create and Kids, successfully serving Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Central Susquehanna Valley area. Broadcasting since 1966, WVIA has a long history of service to the community and surrounding area with local programming, educational programming, outreach and services.
WVIA’s OASYS Integrated Playout system includes 3 playout channels with Extended Graphics capability and Secondary Record, as well as, 1+1 Redundancy Manager for full back-up on their Main channel. Their ingest system includes 4 HD Maker ingest channels and a 32TB NAS with Indexing Services. OASYS is also integrated with Myers Protrack BXF Traffic system.
“This was a big change and our BroadStream Project Engineer worked with us from beginning to end to configure the system, work out the kinks and help us get ready for the launch”, according to Joe Glynn, Vice President of Engineering at WVIA. “The OASYS platform gives us much more capability and flexibility than our previous automation system, which helps tremendously as we move to more unmanned hours in Master Control”.
“We are very excited to have WVIA join the BroadStream Family,” said David Bowes, President and CEO of BroadStream. “Joe Glynn and his engineering team have been excellent to work with and we value our relationship with them and the entire PBS community. We look forward to supporting WVIA broadcast efforts for many years to come.”
OASYS Integrated Playout is a software platform designed specifically for television broadcasters to deliver high quality, efficient playout that is easy-to-use, very flexible, highly scalable and extremely reliable.
The OASYS Integrate Playout architecture combines ingest, playout, scheduling, switching and graphics into one unique software platform that streamlines workflow and simplifies operations. Using commodity-based IT hardware ensures cost controls and eliminates, more expensive “purpose-built” hardware and provides big savings in overhead and a smaller physical foot print.
The individual software applications, within the OASYS platform, are designed to run independently or as part of a larger networked system to provide the flexibility needed to build systems from a simple channel in a box all the way up to large multi-channel solutions.
The OASYS platform is network independent to increase resilience and reliability. Optional software modules enable the platform to be tailor to each facility’s needs with the right functionality requirements for each channel or groups of channels.
