Configure Import - SCC

This topic explains the SCC import options. The SCC format is a Line 21 (Closed Caption in Q4, primarily US captioning) transmission format.

Treat special characters as duplicates

The SCC file format can allow single special characters (such as accented characters) to repeat the character code in the file format. SCC files from some 3rd party systems may contain doubled character codes for special characters.

If the option is not ticked then Q4 will import one special characters per character code. If the option is ticked, and the SCC file contains doubled character codes, then the import will treat each double code as one single special character.

NB: With the option ticked, if there is only one special character code then the import will not recognise this as a character. So if the option is ticked it will expect to see two codes per character.

Keep timecodes from SCC file

When SCC files are imported the timecodes are manipulated for with NTSC analog output. To use the timecodes that have been set in the SCC file with no manipulation, tick the 'Keep timecodes from SCC file' option.

The options will be off by default.
