This article describes how you can join two Wincaps Q4 files together or insert subtitles from one Wincaps Q4 file into another.
To learn how to insert text or subtitles from a non-Wincaps Q4 file click here.
Use the following procedure to merge the two Q4 (w32) files, referred to as source and target. At the end of the process, the target file will contain the merged text.
Note that an insert operation cannot be undone.
Open the target file and save it with a new name, if desired
Place the cursor at the point in the target file where you want the subtitles from the source file to be inserted. The new subtitles will be inserted after this subtitle. If you want to append the source file to the target file, place the cursor in the last subtitle
Select File : Insert W32 file from the main menu
Choose the W32 source file to insert
A confirmation dialog will be displayed
Click OK to continue. The contents of the source file will be inserted into the target file
Warnings may be displayed if Wincaps Q4 detects that results may not be sensible
The current file now contains the results of the merge operation
The insert process obeys the following rules:
Existing properties, subtitles or GSI information in the target file will remain unchanged
All subtitles will be inserted from the source file together with their timecodes and any scene markers and section markers
Any subtitle-level style and word-level style settings in the source file will be preserved. This includes position, justification and colours
Any comments in the source file will be preserved
Speakers will be merged if present
Inserted subtitles will be automatically word-wrapped if necessary
If a Teletext file of a different language is inserted, some of the inserted characters may be invalid in the target language. In this case, an appropriate warning will be displayed
