Multiple channels and subtitle languages on a single display
MSX is a technological breakthrough allowing Polistream and conventional subtitle transmission product users to probe deeper into their system than ever before. It is easy to use and will greatly speed up both the identification and correction of issues in the transmission pipeline.
MSX not only detects and signals imperfections in the stream, it will also analyze the subtitles. Broadcasters, channel managers and content providers within the organization can view the subtitles as they are sent to ensure service quality.
MSX can be used to monitor subtitle transmission from end to end. It can monitor and display data in many formats. This allows the user to see subtitles as they would appear to the viewer. The system is ideal for confidence monitoring or fault location.
MSX can display many channels with multiple languages on one computer display and it saves considerably in space and cost over multiple monitors and decoders. Custom views can also be created depending on individual system requirements via the powerful system editor.
A Remote version supports multi-user remote workstations and dedicated ASI & SDI signal inputs.
Now supports the monitoring of HD DVB subtitles to the ETS300 743 V1.3.1 standard.
Features and Benefits
Monitor and display between 1 and 9 subtitle languages in SD or HD formats on a single display from one or more channels. Supports DVB, Teletext and Imitext subtitle formats in any combination. Ideal for single channel operators or for multi-channel playout where only a single subtitle language is required per channel. MSXL is a software only product and is supplied with a USB dongle.
Monitor, display, analyze and diagnose multiple subtitle languages on multiple channels on a single workstation. Supports DVB, Teletext and Imitext subtitle formats in any combination. Ideal for multi-channel playout with many subtitle languages per channel or for channel owners to monitor language content off-air. MSX Workstation is a software only product and is protected with a USB dongle.
Monitor and display multiple subtitle languages on multiple channels on multiple workstations or monitor walls. Supports DVB, Teletext and Imitext subtitle formats in any combination. Ideal for major multi-channel playout with many subtitle languages per channel who want to integrate subtitle monitoring with the MCR monitoring display wall. MSX Server is a 1U rack mount unit with optional ASI and SDI signal inputs as well as Ethernet connectivity.
The channel monitoring module provides a sophisticated monitoring function to the MSX toolkit. The module creates a subtitle timing signature for each subtitle feed and displays this below each subtitle view.
This is represented as a horizontal bar chart displaying the length and spacing of the subtitles over time. In addition to the subtitle streams signatures can be generated from other sources including a network feed from a Polistream transmission system. These provide independent indications of when subtitles should be present.
In the channel monitor module, the user can set up comparisons between different signature so as to monitor subtitle presence and timing accuracy. This addresses one of the major challenges for subtitle monitoring in knowing if there should be subtitles present or not. By comparing actual subtitle timing against wither a similar language, the signature of the transmission output or the dialogue pattern in the audio stream an intelligent and automatic alarm can be generated.
If there is a mismatch between sources an alarm can be raised to alert the operator. In multi-channel, multi-language systems this removes the need to visually check multiple screens and so free up operator time. The comparison combinations and the level of matching required are all configurable. Once a system is set up for a specific channel(s) it will monitor the subtitle signatures and display the status as green or red bars on the timeline. If the match falls below the set level an alarm will be raised.
Off Air Monitoring
The Polistream Monitoring System can provide monitoring of off-air signals. The MSX system can be run on any PC with network access to the data to be monitored. This allows a user to see subtitles for a channel that cannot be accessed locally. For example, if a channel up-linked to a satellite but the originator is not in the footprint of the satellite it is difficult to monitor the accuracy of the subtitles.
MSX will allow a receiver within the down link footprint to capture the data so the user can view the subtitles over any suitable network link.
