Duluth, GA, USA – March 6, 2018

Leading integrated playout systems specialist, BroadStream Solutions, is pleased to announce that PBS station KAKM, Anchorage, Alaska went live recently with BroadStream’s OASYS Integrated Playout as their broadcast automation solution.

KAKM operates 4 channels including PBS-HD, Create, Alaska Government Channel and PBS Kids 24/7 and presents news and content in public affairs, health and leisure, science and nature, economic and social development, civic engagement and world events.

Located in Southcentral Alaska, Alaska Public Media is comprised of KSKA radio and KAKM tv. Alaska Public Media also operates the Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN) and a shared television service with KTOO in Juneau and KYUK in Bethel. Alaska Public Media and its affiliates deliver content that reaches 97% of the population of Alaska.

KAKM’s OASYS system includes 4 playout channels with Extended Graphics capability and Secondary Record. 1+1 Redundancy Manager on the Main channel and Time Delay using “Time Play” for Kids. Their ingest includes 4 HD Maker ingest channels and a 32TB NAS with Indexing Services. OASYS is also integrated with Myers Protrack BXF Traffic system and Media Asset Management solution.

“This was one of the smoothest commissioning projects I’ve ever experienced”, according to Bob Wyatt, Chief Technology Officer at KAKM. “The OASYS platform gives us much more capability and flexibility than our previous automation system, which helps operationally as we move to more unmanned hours in Master Control”. “The change from traditional Master Control to the OASYS Integrated Playout system is a big step ahead for us.”

“We are very excited to have KAKM join the BroadStream Family,” said David Bowes, President and CEO of BroadStream. “Bob Wyatt and his team have been great to work with and we value our relationship with them and the entire PBS community. We look forward to supporting KAKM for many years to come.”
